Setting up your POP email with Outlook 365

Why use POP as opposed to IMAP? IMAP doesn’t store another copy of your emails on the server, therefore when you delete an email in one place, it deletes them from all the other places you have linked your email to, for example your phone, tablet and computer. However, if you are worried that you will accidentally delete an email and lose it forever you can use POP. Deleting an email when using POP will only delete the email on your device (e.g. your phone). If you want to set up your email using IMAP, follow our guide here

1. Go to the “File” tab

The “File” tab is located at the top right of your outlook desktop app.

2. Click “Add Account”

3. Input your email address

4. Manual Account Set-up

Make sure to click on the Advanced options toggle and check the Let me set up my account manually box. Then, click on the Connect button.

4.1 Selecting POP

On the advanced setup menu, select the POP option

4.2 Password

Simply input your email password and click Connect

All done! You should now be able to access your new email right inside of your Outlook 365 app!

Troubleshooting

If you get this issue, the first thing to do is click Change Account Settings

Outgoing mail

Then, click Next, input your password and click Connect
