WordPress Editor Overview

1. Add a Heading

Type into the opening block to insert a heading.

2. Start writing or type

In the block below, start typing to add text to your page.

3. Undo and Redo

Use the backwards and forwards arrows to undo and redo your changes.

4. The “i” Icon

Use the “i” icon to view how many words, headings, paragraphs and blocks your page has.

5. Change block type

To change the block type use the left icon to open a menu.

6. Block Types

You are able to transform your text block to the options listed.

7. Editing Text

Use the toolbar to edit your text with options such as alignment, bold, italic, hyperlink and more.

8. Change your view

By clicking the icon with three dots in the top right hand corner you will be shown a menu to alter your view. Toolbar view allows a toolbar to be permanently positioned at the top of the page.

8.1 Spotlight Mode

Spotlight mode means the editor will only focus on the block you are editing/creating.

8.2 Full Screen Mode

Full screen mode removes the WordPress toolbar on the left hand side, allowing for a clutter free view when editing.

8.3 Escape full screen mode

To escape full screen mode click the same three dots icon in the top right corner to deselect full screen mode.

8.4 Code Editor

Your current view is in the visual editor. To work using HTML select the code editor.

8.5 Code Editor

Here you will be able to view your page in code formation.

9. Editing Blocks

To edit blocks, switch from “document” to “block” to directly edit a singular block. Here you will be able to edit the text settings, colour settings and more.

10. Save Draft / Publish

When you are happy with your changes, click “save draft” to save a draft, “publish” to put your page live on your website, or “update” to update an already published page.
