Stage 6 · MeasurementPage 24
  1. Stage 1

    AI opportunity audit

We map how work actually gets done in your business, task by task, and show exactly where hours and money are leaking. Most teams are surprised how much is quietly automatable, and what should stay human.

Everything else is built from this
Answers questions like“Everyone says use AI, nobody says where”“What could we actually automate?”
  2. Stage 2

    Priorities

Every opportunity scored on hours saved, cost to build and risk. What to automate, what to assist, what to keep human, in the right order, so week one is obvious.

    Built from the audit
Answers questions like“I don’t know what we should automate first”“Where’s the quickest win?”
  3. Stage 3

    Forecasts

What each automation should save in hours and money, and what it costs to build and run, so you can see the return before anything is built. An honest word if something won’t pay for itself.

    Built from your priorities
Answers questions like“Would it actually save us money?”“How long until it pays for itself?”
  4. Stage 4

    Budget

Build costs, tools, running costs and training, month by month, with the reasoning on the page. No “AI transformation” hand-waving.

    Sized to the forecast
Answers questions like“I’m never sure what we should be spending”“What does this cost to run each month?”
  5. Stage 5

    Action plan

Your first 90 days as concrete actions: a pilot with one team, humans checking every output, then roll out. Dated and owned, whether we build it or you do.

Turns stages 1 to 4 into weeks
Answers questions like“We tried ChatGPT and it went nowhere”“How do we start without breaking anything?”
  6. Stage 6

    Measurement

Hours back, turnaround times and cost per task, agreed before anything is built. Reported monthly in plain English, never “AI adoption” vanity metrics.

Closes the loop on the forecast
Answers questions like“How would we even know it’s working?”“Is it saving us money or just time?”
Why we cover every area, not just the one that hurts

You might only want one automation today. But a budget is only as good as the audit behind it, and a pilot is only as good as the forecast it’s built on. So the strategy covers every area, in order, and you get the whole roadmap, not one piece of it.

The process

How your strategy comes together

From first conversation to finished roadmap in about two weeks. Here's what working with us on it actually looks like.

1

Kickoff & deep dive

designbox AI strategy kickoff and deep dive

It starts with you: a proper conversation about your business, customers and goals. Then we get into the data.

  • Your goals, numbers and constraints on the table
  • Website, analytics, ads and search data audited
  • Competitors benchmarked honestly
  • What's already working, kept, not binned
2

Research & build

designbox AI strategy research and build

We go away and build: AI-assisted research, human judgement, every recommendation costed and prioritised.

  • What your customers search and ask, mapped
  • Channels scored on effort, cost and return
  • Realistic forecasts built from your numbers
  • Budget allocated month by month
3

The presentation

designbox AI strategy presentation

We present the strategy to you live, walk through every recommendation, and answer everything.

  • Every priority explained in plain English
  • Forecasts and assumptions shown, not hidden
  • Your questions answered honestly
  • Adjustments made where you know your business better
4

Yours to run

designbox AI strategy handover

You leave with the document and a clear 90-day plan. Run it with us, in-house, or anywhere.

  • The full roadmap document, yours to keep
  • A 90-day action plan anyone can follow
  • Continue with us and we execute it
  • Or take it away, with our blessing
Sound familiar?

If AI feels like all hype, it's not you

Everyone's telling you to 'use AI' but nobody says where it actually pays off. Tool demos look like magic, then stall in real work. Most AI disappoints because it starts with a tool instead of a plan, and here's what the difference looks like.

Getting started

It all starts with a free half hour

Thirty minutes with a strategist, not a salesperson. No pitch, nothing to prepare: we look at how your business actually runs today, tell you honestly what's working and what isn't, and you leave with clear next steps either way.

Why us

Why businesses choose designbox for strategy

A few honest reasons clients choose us, and stay with us.

0+
growth campaigns delivered
0+
years building for UK businesses
0%
of clients stay year on year

You speak to the person doing the work

No account managers relaying messages from someone you've never met. Your dedicated strategist writes your plan, does the work and answers your questions, and they know your business properly because it's theirs to look after.

Part of your team, not an outside agency

We embed in your business, learn how the work comes in and treat your goals as our own. Most clients stop thinking of us as an agency fairly quickly, which is exactly what we're aiming for.

Outcomes, not gimmicks

A clever demo isn't the point. Every recommendation ties back to hours saved, costs cut and what it does for your team and your customers, never AI for the sake of it.

The full picture, under one roof

We design and build websites, run paid campaigns and handle email and social alongside SEO. That context means your AI strategy fits how your whole business actually runs, not just what a tool demo looks like.

Strategy FAQs

Can't see yours? Ask us anything on a quick call, no obligation.

What is an AI strategy?
An AI strategy is a written plan for where AI genuinely saves your business time and money: which processes to automate, in what order, with which tools, what it costs, what it returns and how to roll it out. Ours opens with an AI opportunity audit of how work actually gets done in your business, then a 12-month roadmap with a 90-day rollout plan.
How much does it cost?
A fixed price, agreed up front on the free consultation, based on the size of your business and the processes involved. No surprises. And if we go on to build the roadmap together, we'll talk about crediting it against your first project.
Which AI tools do you recommend?
Whichever genuinely fit the task: ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Zapier, Make, or custom builds. We're independent, we don't resell licences, and the strategy usually cancels more duplicate tools than it adds.
Do we have to build it with you?
No. It's written to stand alone: run it in-house, with us, or with another provider. Most clients ask us to build it, but that's a choice, not a condition.
How long does it take?
Around two weeks from kickoff to presentation, depending mostly on how quickly we can see how your business runs day to day.
Is our data safe?
That's chapter zero of every rollout: a plain-English data policy, UK GDPR compliance, and private or self-hosted options where the work is sensitive. Nothing goes into a tool your policy hasn't approved.
Will AI replace our staff?
Honestly: it replaces busywork, not people. The roadmap is built around freeing your team's hours for the work that actually needs humans, and it plans where those hours go.
Will you guarantee savings?
No, and be wary of anyone who does. We model ROI from your real workloads and wage costs, and we're happy to be held to the plan we write.
What do you need from us?
An hour at kickoff and an honest walkthrough of how work gets done today, the messy version, not the org chart. We do the rest.

AI strategy at designbox

designbox is a digital agency based in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, building AI strategies for businesses across the UK. Every AI project starts with a strategy: a 12-month roadmap opening with an AI opportunity audit of how your business actually runs, then what to automate in what order, which tools to use, honest ROI forecasts modelled from your workloads and wage costs, a budget plan and a 90-day rollout your team can start on immediately, with data safety and governance built in from day one. We've spent over a decade building websites, integrations and automations for UK businesses, and we're tool-independent: ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Zapier, Make or custom builds, whatever the task genuinely needs. The strategy is a paid, fixed-price piece of work agreed on a free consultation, and it's yours to keep: build it with us, in-house, or with anyone. If AI feels like hype, noise and pressure with no plan, start with the free half hour. We'll look at how your business runs and tell you honestly where AI would pay off, and where it wouldn't.
